Finally, a break in the Welsh weather and a very welcome period of warmth, had us all eager to relocate from the confines of the house to the beach to play in the waves and make the most of the sun before the inevitable rain hit us, again…
Having moved from military quarters which were generally situated on the outskirts of towns and villages without a single amenity nearby, I don’t think any of us appreciated how life changing being able to walk to the shop for bread and milk would be, let alone being able to walk to the sea! It is an absolute joy to load a hand cart with essentials and drag it down the road to the beach, a joy I will seriously never tire of!
This time, the cart was loaded with not only the typical beach paraphernalia, but also the camping stove, sausages, and beer! We were planning to make the most of the weather after all!
Not going to lie, even in June, the sea was pretty nippy, so freshly cooked bangers went down a treat! And the children discovered that by rolling in the sand, they could warm up after their dip whilst blending (almost!) seamlessly with the surroundings! 😂
Almost five months after the move, we received our first visitor in the form of my youngest brother. Keen to escape the chaos of his busy job in London, he arrived with a determination to spend the day building sandcastles, despite the return of the grey weather! Never one to miss an opportunity to get in the water, and as we were banned from disturbing the master builder at work, we left my brother to his creations and made the most of another day of waves and wild water. However, sadly, this time it was without the bangers and beer...
